T1 Investor

The Tier 1 Investor visa was historically a key route for high net worth individuals entering and investing in the UK. Although the route is now closed to new applicants, it remains relevant in practice.

Existing visa holders continue to appear in the workforce. For employers, this creates ongoing exposure in areas such as right to work checks, visa expiry tracking, extension and settlement applications, and Home Office compliance reviews.

A common misunderstanding is that closure of the route removes employer responsibility. It does not. Individuals with legacy Tier 1 Investor leave remain subject to the Immigration Rules, and employers remain fully exposed to enforcement risk if compliance is not handled correctly.

Only individuals granted Tier 1 Investor leave before 17 February 2022 can rely on the route. No new applicants or in country switches are possible.
