Latest Policy Update (2026)

From 9 February 2026:

• Certain adult children of BN(O) status holders can apply independently
• Including those who were under 18 on 1 July 1997
• Their partners and children may also apply

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. BN(O) Status

• Hold BN(O) status
• Or qualify as an eligible family member

2. Residence Requirement

• Overseas applications: ordinarily resident in Hong Kong
• In-country applications: resident in the UK or permitted regions

3. Financial Requirement

• Must demonstrate ability to support themselves for at least 6 months
• Usually exempt if already in the UK for 12 months or more

4. Accommodation Requirement

• Must show adequate accommodation in the UK

5. Tuberculosis Test (if applicable)

• Required when applying from certain countries

The following dependants may apply:

• Spouse or partner
• Children or grandchildren under 18
